HOLIDAY CARDS & GIFTS

Your Christmas Card List, on a Board

Every December the same question: who gets a card, who already has one, and who did we forget? Starrise Contacts keeps your Christmas card and gift list on a board, made of the people in your contacts. Drag a card from To Do to Bought / Written to Sent / Given, and see at a glance what’s left.

A holiday cards and gifts board in Starrise Contacts on iPhone

Three columns for the season

The Holiday Cards & Gifts template has the steps every card and present goes through:

  • To Do: everyone who should get a card or a gift this year.
  • Bought / Written: the card is written or the gift is bought.
  • Sent / Given: in the mail or under the tree. Done.

How to set it up

  1. Open Contacts in Starrise Contacts and tap the view menu at the top right. Choose Board. On the Mac, choose Boards in the sidebar (⌘6).
  2. Create a new board and start from the Holiday Cards & Gifts template. It comes with the columns To Do, Bought / Written and Sent / Given.
  3. Tap Add Contacts and tap the people you want on the board. Each person gets one card.
  4. Drag a card to the next column whenever something changes. Rename, add or delete columns until the board fits the way you work.

Addresses and gift ideas included

Because every card on the board is one of your contacts, you have what you need for each person right there:

  • The address from the contact card, to write on the envelope.
  • Gift ideas you saved during the year, with shop links, picture and price (free). See how to keep track of gift ideas.
  • Notes such as “moved in spring” or “send the card to both of them”.

Next year, start a new board from the same template, or drag everyone back to To Do. Removing a card or deleting a board never deletes the contact.

Sharing the list with your partner? Boards stay in step on your own iPhone, iPad and Mac with iCloud Sync (Pro); they aren’t shared with other people’s accounts.

Contact Boards are part of Starrise Contacts Pro: $0.99 a month or $5.99 a year in the US. Without Pro you can look at a sample board on fictional contacts, so you see how it works before you decide.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best way to keep a Christmas card list on iPhone?

Keep it with your contacts, so addresses are right there. In Starrise Contacts, a board from the Holiday Cards & Gifts template shows who is still To Do, whose card is Bought / Written and whose is Sent / Given.

Can I use the same list next year?

Yes. Drag everyone back to To Do, or start a fresh board from the same template and keep last year’s as it is.

Does it print address labels?

No. Starrise Contacts shows each person’s address on their contact, but it doesn’t print labels or envelopes.
