How to Add an Anniversary to a Contact on iPhone

Open the contact, tap Edit, scroll down and tap add date. Make sure the label says anniversary, choose the date and tap Done. The date is saved on the contact, but the iPhone doesn’t remind you of it on its own. Add a yearly reminder, or use an app such as Starrise Contacts that reminds you of anniversaries for free.

Add the anniversary in Contacts

Open the Contacts app, choose the person and tap Edit.
Scroll down and tap add date.
Tap the label next to the date and choose anniversary, or create a custom label.
Pick the date and tap Done.

Get reminded every year

Open Reminders and add a reminder, such as Anna and Tom’s anniversary.
Tap the info button, set the date and time and choose Repeat: Yearly.

Limits

Saving the date on the contact doesn’t set an alert. The reminder is a separate step.
The reminder isn’t linked to the contact, so changing one doesn’t change the other.
