Privacy Policy for Starrise Contacts

Last Updated: November 21, 2025

This document describes how the iOS app Starrise Contacts (“the app”, “we”, “us”) processes your data. It is intended to comply with applicable privacy laws and to follow Apple’s App Store privacy best practices.

1. Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Your privacy is a top priority. Our core principles are:

  • Your contacts and calendar contents stay on your device.
  • We do not upload your address book or calendar contents to our servers or to analytics providers.
  • We collect only a minimal amount of anonymous usage data to understand how the app is used and to improve it.
  • We do not use your data for third party advertising or cross app tracking.

2. Information Access vs. Collection (Contacts and Calendar)

To provide its core functionality, Starrise Contacts needs permission to access your Contacts and (optionally) Calendar data stored on your device.

  • On device access only:

All contact and calendar processing (displaying, editing, reminders, moments, etc.) happens locally on your device using Apple’s system APIs.

  • No upload of contact or calendar contents:

We do not collect, store, transmit, or share:

  • Names, phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, birthdays, anniversaries
  • Calendar event titles, locations, notes, or invitees
  • Notes, gift ideas, or other free text content you enter about a contact
  • File contents or filenames attached to a contact

This information never leaves your device through our servers or through our analytics system.

  • Backups:

Any backup of your contacts, calendars, or app data (for example via iCloud or device backups) is handled solely by Apple under Apple’s own privacy policy.

3. Analytics and Usage Data

Starting with version 1.3.1, Starrise Contacts gathers anonymous information about how the app is used. This helps us understand what works well and what needs improvement. We use a third party service to help us analyze this data.

3.1 What anonymous data we collect

  • Actions you take in the app: For example when you launch the app, open features like Favorites or the Map, or interact with contacts. We track that an action happened but never any personal details.
  • General details about app features: For example which tab you viewed on a contact profile or the type of file you attached.
  • Technical information about your device: App version, device model, OS version, language settings, approximate timestamps, and an anonymous identifier to count users without identifying them.

We do not collect any personally identifying information, specifically:

  • Your contact names or personal details
  • Phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, birthdays, anniversaries
  • Calendar event titles or descriptions
  • Text in notes, gift ideas, or free text fields
  • Names or contents of attached files

3.2 How we use this anonymous data

  • Understand which features are popular
  • Measure overall app usage (for example daily or monthly users)
  • Find and fix problems or crashes
  • Decide which new features to prioritize

We do not:

  • Use this data for targeted advertising
  • Share this data with advertisers or data brokers
  • Combine it with other information to create a user profile

Apple’s App Store privacy labels reflect this by indicating we collect “Usage Data” that is “Data Not Linked to You.”

4. Third Party Analytics Service

For anonymous usage analytics, we use a trusted third party product analytics platform.

What the service receives: Anonymous actions and technical device information, allowing them to generate usage reports.

What the service does not receive:

  • Your contact or calendar contents
  • Your name, email address, or phone number
  • The content of your notes, gift ideas, or attachments

The service processes this data on our behalf in accordance with its own privacy terms. You can review their privacy information on their website.

We do not use any other third party analytics or advertising services.

5. Data Retention

We do not store copies of your contact or calendar contents. They remain on your device and your Apple account until you delete them.

Anonymous analytics data is kept only as long as needed for statistics and app improvement, then deleted or permanently anonymized.

If you request deletion of analytics data, we will work with our analytics provider to honor it as much as technically possible.

6. Contact Us

If you have questions about this policy or your privacy rights, contact us:

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example when adding new features or services.

  • When changes occur, we will update the “Last Updated” date.
  • For significant updates, we may also provide an in app notice.
